Pioneers of Sustainability

Specializing in the production of flowering and aromatic plants, Südkultur produces about 3 million plants per year for 40 hectares of cultivation area.

Südkultur started in 1985, in Calabria, with the cultivation of Pelargonium plants. The following year, in 1986, the nursery was moved to its current position in Puglia. Since then it has had a constant growth becoming a national and European reference point.

Südkultur has long been a point of reference in the nursery sector, but its true excellence is manifested in the way it integrates sustainability in every aspect of its activity.

In fact, they use anti-insect nets as a means of passive defense, they have reduced chemical inputs with the use of antagonist fungi in rooting and insects useful in production to obtain a better quality of plants and the working environment. The electricity used comes almost exclusively from renewable sources (solar panels in particular).

We know that sustainability is not just about the environment, it is also about society. The company devotes many resources to the well-being of its employees, ensuring that working conditions are safe, healthy and satisfactory.

For this reason, when the time came to improve the timing, management and automation of the production process in its nurseries, we wanted to make sure that this progress did not happen at the expense of its values and quality standards of work.

The line designed by Urbinati has been designed ad hoc for Südkultur respecting all the characteristics required by the customer: as mentioned, sustainability and efficiency.

Urbinati: Innovation and avant-garde

The designed line is a state-of-the-art production line: it has been designed to optimize every phase of the production process and also manage tall-stemmed plants.

Intelligent automation and workflow optimization have reduced production times, increased accuracy and guaranteed the highest quality of the final product.

The need was also to be able to maintain the high quality of the work of employees within the greenhouses: Urbinati has designed ergonomic and intuitive solutions, which not only make the work more efficient, but also safer and more rewarding for those who work in the nurseries of Südkultur.

No doubt this is an example of how it is possible to cultivate success without compromising our planet or the well-being of people.
